Picnic season is finally here! Growing up my mom and I use to go on picnics in the park so I wanted to plan a special picnic for her. I found a perfectly shaded spot under a beautiful oak tree in her front yard and laid out my blanket and other thrifted treasures. Planning a (aesthetic) picnic doesn't have to break the bank or take loads effort; you just need the right combination of things! Here are my essentials to planning a picnic that will give you Instagram-photo-worthy results. So grab your favorite person (or people) and head outdoors for a unique al fresco experience.

1. Basket - The quintessential picnic accessory. I found this vintage gathering basket at a thrift store and I fell in love with it. It’s not technically a picnic basket but any cute basket will do the trick!

2. Glassware & dishes - Anytime I can bring out my thrifted glassware, it’s a good day! I poured our favorite drink into an empty glass bottle and coupled it with my vintage-inspired etched glasses & ceramic plates.

3. Flowers - An arrangement of flowers is always the perfect centerpiece and that is also true for a picnic. Watch me DIY these basket flower vases here.

4. Large Blanket - I used a large blanket as my base. It was 100% cotton and only $4 at my local thrift store! It was the perfect canvas for layering other materials I found.

5. Linen materials - I layered a variety of complimenting materials to add visual interest to the overall picnic scene. Don’t be afraid to mix and match colors, patterns, and textures!
