Decor I Love To Thrift (February 2022)
If you know me then it’s no secret I love to thrift shop and find special items for my home second-hand (or pre-loved as I like to call them). I love mixing vintage items that have history and more contemporary pieces to create a space that feels just the right amount of lived-in! Recently my mom and I’ve loved visiting estate sales and there seem to be several of them every weekend here in Texas so there’s LOADS of opportunity to find some super unique pieces to cherish!
We start by looking through photos they post for the estate sale and take screencaps on anything we reallllllyyyy want to be the first to grab! We’ve come to realize they don’t post all the good stuff (or a least the decor we love) in the photos so don’t judge a book by the cover! You have to go and browse for yourself because you never know what you’ll find!
Although I always shop with an open mind here are some of my favorite items to thrift and buy pre-loved at the moment…
Scalloped & Floral China
Serving plates, tea cups with saucers and trinket boxes. I love finding floral prints in pretty color combinations and gold rim details
Framed Landscape Art & Mirrors
I’m pretty selective about frames and the art inside them. Frames I look for are ornate with a wooden base and detailed wooden ones with linen liners. I like frames to have more weight to them so the wider the better! Sometimes I can find pretty lanscape paintings inside or have my mom (WhileOliviaSleepsArt) paint something for the frames!
Textured Glassware
Glass coffee cups, vintage goblets and drinking glasses, bowls and vases all with HEAVY texture.
Vintage Hardback Books
I love finding vintage hardback books in pretty colors and inspiring contents! I look for poetry, architecture, famous novels all in colors I decorate with!
Brass “Everything”
I’ve had a love for brass candle holders for a long time and now I love finding brass tea pots, bowls, trinket dishes and napkin holders.
Wooden Spoons, Bowls & Cutting Boards
I love the organic touch wooden items bring to a home so I like to find old wooden spoons to add to vases, wooden bowls and uniquely shaped cutting boards.
Plaid & Crochet Blankets
I’ve recently been browsing the textiles and blankets at thrift shops and I’ve found the coziest, prettiest blankets! I love to find plaid throws and crochet blankets in neutral & warm tones.
