5 Essentials For Styling a Coffee Table

IMG_9918.jpg

One of the prominent surfaces to style in a home is the coffee table. Since Romeo and I both work from home we need the coffee table to be clutter-free, functional, and obviously stylish. There is nothing like having a beautifully decorated tabletop so here are my 5 essentials to styling a coffee table.

No. 1: The Coffee Table

Picking out a table can seem like an easy thing to do but there are so many things to consider before settling down on a style. First, consider shape - we have an L-shaped couch and wanted to be able to easily access the coffee table from anywhere you sat so we opted for a rectangular-shaped coffee table. So your couch and the position of other furniture in the space will determine the shape of your coffee table - round, oval, rectangle or square.

You can even DIY your own! Check out some of the coffee tables I’ve DIYed below…

No. 2: Add Height With Vases

There’s nothing more ethereal than a gorgeous vase set on a table. Whether the vases are shared with branches or not, it is a perfect way to add eye-catching detail and height to your coffee table.

No. 3: Decorating with Books

The best part about styling with books is obviously the character they bring to a space, but well thought out coffee table books can be a great way to start a conversation with guests. Their covers are also versatile enough to switch out with changing seasons. Visit your local thrift store to find an endless array of hardcovers and titles or shop some below!

No. 4: Set the Atmosphere with Candles

Whether you’re creating an atmosphere with light, scent or both; candles are a definite go-to for surrounding the room with warmth. I love to add both scented candles and brass candle holders to my table decor— because there really is no better way to add coziness to a room.

No. 5: Add Natural Elements

Another great way to add a variety of shape and texture is styling with natural elements. Plants, branches, organic vessels and bowls introduce a relaxing vibe to your home.

I typically love to forage branches from what I have available to me outdoors, but I’ve linked some faux branches below to stand the test of time. Using clay beads and wicker baskets are other natural elements I absolutely love to style with; they help to tie all the pieces of decor on my table together.
